List of the famous Temples destroyed by Mughals in India

There were many temples that were destroyed during their rule which spanned several centuries. However, some notable examples of temples that are believed to have been destroyed by the Mughals include:
- The Somnath Temple in Gujarat, which was ransacked and destroyed several times by various Muslim invaders.
- The Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, which was destroyed and rebuilt multiple times.
- The Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, that was destroyed by Babur to build Babri Masjid.
- The Vijayanagara empire temples, which were destroyed by the army of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb
- The Khajuraho temples, which were damaged by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s army.
- The Somanath temple in Saurashtra, Gujarat which was destroyed by Mahmud of Ghazni in 1026 CE.
- The Kalan Mosque in Delhi, which was built by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb after destroying a temple.
- It should be noted that there are also evidences that some of the temples were destroyed by other Islamic invaders like Ghazni, Ghuri and Khilji dynasty apart from Mughals.
In India country, 36,000 temples have been demolished by the Mughals from those times itself.
